About US

The Company

일러스트

Wespe is a company that develops and produces MEA’s and Stacks for PEM water electrolysis.

Mission Of Hydrogen Energy

We have begun to incorporate the results of PEM water electrolysis R & D over the past 20 years into the production of large-area MEA’s and stacks, and we will continue these efforts in the future.

Our Vision

The humanity’s dream, clean and infinite energy society!
Wespe will take the lead in green hydrogen production.

Why Choose Us

We have optimized the MEA for water electrolysis, which is the key to performance and durability in PEM water electrolysis. In addition, the unique design of the bipolar plate, which is the core of stack economics, solved the problem of high stack prices, which was a disadvantage of PEM water electrolysis. As a result, we are able to provide world-class MEA’s and stacks.

Wespe has been developing PEM fuel cells (PEMFC) and PEM water electrolysis cells (PEMEC) since the early 2000s, and established Fuel Cell Engineering in 2005 to begin production and sales. In 2009, WESPE was established to focus on PEMEC development and published numerous patents and papers on PEMEC. Starting in 2021, optimization of the MEA and PEMEC stacks has been completed, making the product even more competitive.

Founder of the company, Hong-Youl Kim (CEO), received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He worked in the Polymer Materials Laboratory of the Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. and also worked as an adjunct professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University. He has been researching PEM water electrolysis since the early 2000s with the belief that he would lead the era of the hydrogen economy.

All the members of Wespe are not satisfied with the present and are doing their best today to create a more improved and developed future for PEM water electrolysis.
